here's my first impressions of the Shure E5c in - ear monitors. this was from an email that i had sent v-drummer recently.

"i must say that i felt like being a deaf man who's finally able to hear. i LOVE them. it was one of the best investments that i've made in a looong time when it comes to drum equipment. i can't say that i've tried out the sensaphonics monitors so i can't compare but i was surprised how well they fit in my ear canal. i recommend one of the silicone mushroom earpiece rather than the christmas tree. i stayed away from the foam cuz it tends to make my ears itch after a couple of uses. i remember some of the guys saying that the sound quality can be a bit mid-rangey but that wasn't my experience at all. the E5's actually cover the whole spectrum in a clean way. i noticed another thing about in-ears. i was having problems with pains in my hands after playing a few sets. after wearing these and being able to hear my kit as well as other people, i noticed that my heavy handedness dissappeared hence no more pain in my hands or wrists! ..."

    Hey Chuch,

Thanks for the update on your monitors. Glad the E5s are working out for you! Do you have your own mixer where you dial in your own monitor mix?

    hey andy,

glad my impressions can help. unfortunately, i can't dial in my own monitor mix. i have to ask the monitor engineer to do that. with that said, i do have control over volume and EQ'ing of the mix itself. i'ts basiclly and auxiliary channel for a wedge monitor that i'm working off of. it's a cheap little behringer. we're hoping to go with wireless packs soon and i believe they have a built in limiter.

btw - joey de francesco is going to be at 'steamers' december 17, 18th. his drummer, byron landham just kills! hopefully, this could be another drumhang.
